This is my first ever blog, how dreadfully exciting! It's like a mini adventure before I take my real adventure. Hmmm if I classify blogging as adventurous a trip to Africa might very well blow my miniature mind... eh, fore warned is fore armed.
So here are the answers to some frequently asked questions about my impending quest.
Q: Do you know where you are going to be assigned?
A: No I don't know exactly where I am going to be stationed after training. We have a number of posts in provinces all over Morocco so I could end up anywhere.
Q: What kind of climate does it have?
A: Yes. ;) It's all over the spectrum. They call it "the coolest of the hot countries." This is because the lower half of the country is covered by the Sahara Dessert. They also have the Atlas mountains, though, and those have 14ers. They actually have two ski resorts. Also, the northern border is on the Mediterranean coast. Everyone I've spoken to says to dress in layers so I'm expecting an extreme version of Colorado weather. Someone made me laugh earlier today when I described the country as such. He responded, "Isn't that like saying I'm the soberest of the drunks?"
Q: Will you wear a burka?
A: Probably not, but I am more than willing to wear a scarf if it makes others more comfortable.
Q: Do you have a mailing address.
A: Erika Pullen, Trainee
s/c Corps de la Paix
2, rue Abou Marouane Essaadi
Agdal, Rabat 10100 Morocco
Although they- you know, the powers that be- request that if anyone wants to sent me packages that they wait until after I have my assignment and am at my location. Otherwise dealing the package is a pain in their tucki. (plural of tuckus) Letters, however, are accepted and welcomed. Also if you give me your address I'll send you post cards. When I travel on my days off I can send cards from different places and we can play Where In Morocco Is Erika?
Well, this has been fun but I'm off to seek new-to-me things.
